Author Story – The Journey Behind The Site
In 2014, Miles Turner found himself back in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, after leaving a startup job in Austin that had promised big things—but folded overnight. With no income, a laptop full of spreadsheets, and a head full of lessons learned the hard way, he started helping local businesses in his community navigate digital marketing and legal setups.
From helping a mechanic file for an LLC to guiding his cousin in setting up an online print shop, Miles slowly realized something: people didn’t need buzzwords—they needed clear, practical advice on how to actually start and run a business.
After nearly a decade of consulting, side hustling, and getting his hands dirty with everything from Shopify to QuickBooks, Miles created Start Biz Journal. The goal? To build a resource he wished he had when he started—no vague strategies, no sales pitches, just real advice from real experience.
Today, Miles shares guides, tools, and insights to help everyday people confidently start their own business—without needing an MBA or a Silicon Valley connection.
